23. Windows Update specifies that my operating system is up-to-date but Woolworths Internet Security detects vulnerabilities. What should I do?

When carrying out an on-demand scan for vulnerabilities, from Scan, Detect vulnerabilities or after the Virus Signature File has been updated (during the memory scan), Platinum Internet Security 2005 and Woolworths Internet Security can sometimes detect the vulnerabilities MS04-011 and MS05-041 in computers running Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 installed.

Then, when the operating system is updated (Windows Update), a critical update pending installation is not detected. This happens because Microsoft has not included the patches for the MS04-011 and MS05-041 vulnerabilities in Windows Update.

In order to resolve this conflict, access the corresponding Microsoft security bulletins from the link for the vulnerability you need to fix, download the update and then install it.

  • To resolve the MS04-011 vulnerability, click here.
  • To resolve the MS05-041 vulnerability, click here.
