1. How do I make Woolworths Antivirus update automatically?
Every day new viruses appear that threaten the security of your computer. As a result, you should not only install a good antivirus on your computer but also keep it constantly updated.
For Woolworths Antivirus to update automatically (without user intervention) when you surf the Internet, check your e-mail, download files, etc., follow the steps below:
How to configure the automatic updates
- Check that the Internet Explorer settings do not interfere with the process. To do this:
- Open the browser, click on Tools and select Internet Options.
- Click on the Security tab and click on the Custom Level... button under Internet.
- In User Authentication, Logon, check that the Automatic logon only in Intranet zone or Prompt for user name and password checkbox is enabled.
- Open the program Woolworths Antivirus, following these steps:
- Click on Start.
- Select Programs.
- Choose Woolworths Antivirus.
- Select Woolworths Antivirus.
- In the Woolworths Status section, open the Updates and subscription option.
- Click on Updates Settings
- Make sure that the Enable automatic updates option is checked in the Automatic updates section.
This option is automatically enabled by default. The option Notify me when updating automatically is also checked by default to inform you each time the program updates.
- In the User name and password section, type the user name and password assigned by Woolworths Software when you registered your product. Be careful when typing this information because it is case sensitive.

- Once the data has been entered, the update will be performed automatically from Panda Software's website.
- If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server, you need to access the Advanced settings section. Then, click on Internet access settings and check the option Connect to the Internet via proxy server and follow the steps below to configure access:
- Type the IP address and port of your proxy server in the Address section. If you don't know this information, your network administrator will give it to you.
- If your proxy server requires authentication, you need to enter the corresponding user name and password in the Password tab.
- These user name and password are not the ones provided by Woolworths Software to access the updates. If you don't know this information, your network administrator will give it to you.
- Once the configuration is completed, click OK to return to the Updates Settings tab.
If you connect to the Internet using a modem, don't check this option and continue with the following step.
- Click on OK to save the automatic updates settings.
Once these configuration steps have been completed, the antivirus will update automatically whenever an Internet connection is detected, without user intervention.
2. How do I download the latest version of Woolworths Antivirus?
The complete product should only be downloaded under special circumstances: download errors when buying via the Internet, hardware errors resulting in the loss of the product installed, etc.
Download steps
In order to download the latest version of Woolworths Antivirus, follow the steps below:

- A table is displayed with the downloads available for your security solution. Select Software, click on the Master folder, and download the file for your product and your operating system; L07NT.exe (for Windows XP/2000) or L079x.exe (for Windows 98/Millennium).
NOTE: In order to check which operating system is installed, go to Start, Run then type winver and click OK. Then, a window showing the version of your operating system will be displayed.
- Save the file to your hard disk. It is recommendable to create a folder in C: drive called WOOLWORTHS (for example) and download the file to this folder.
- Once the download is complete, click on the Exit button.
- Go to the folder in which you have saved the file. Double click on it and follow the instructions displayed in screen in order to complete the installation process.

IMPORTANT: If an error occurs when downloading the file, it will be unusable, returning errors during installation. In this case, the download process must be repeated by following the steps described in this FAQ.
Check that the settings of Internet Explorer do not interfere with the download process. To do this:
- Open the browser and go to Tools and select Internet Options.
- In the Privacy tab, check that the level is set at Medium. If it isn't, click on the Default button.
- Then click on Apply and OK to save the changes.

3. How do I install Woolworths Antivirus from the file downloaded from the Internet?
Woolworths Antivirus is very easy to install thanks to the installation wizard which will guide you through the process step by step.
Installation steps
- Before installing your antivirus, check your computer meets the minimum installation requirements.
- It is also recommendable to uninstall any antivirus before starting the installation process, as two antiviruses installed on the same computer can cause conflicts.
- Run the downloaded file.
- Select the installation language and click on Next.
- If Woolworths Antivirus was not already installed on the computer, a window welcoming you to the installation program will be displayed, click on Next.
- If the computer does not meet the minimum installation requirements, a window indicating which requirements are not fulfilled and a list of the necessary requirements that must be met in order to correctly install the program will be displayed. Click on Finish to stop the installation process.
- If Woolworths Antivirus finds incompatible software installed, a message indicating which software is incompatible will be displayed and the installation process will close. Uninstall the indicated programs and start the installation process again.
- Next, the license agreement is displayed. Read it carefully and click on Yes to accept the terms and conditions.
If you don't accept it, the installation process will finish.
- In the next screen you will be offered the possibility of changing the program installation directory (by clicking on Browse...) and of performing a Typical installation (recommended for most users) or Customized installation (lets you configure all the options available). Select Typical Installation and click on OK.
- The computer memory will be scanned. Once the scan has finished, click on OK.
- When the scan has finished, the files will be copied.
- To install the program with all the protections enabled, you will have to restart the computer. Select the option Yes, I want to restart the computer now and click on Next.
- After restarting, the computer will be protected with Woolworths Antivirus.

4. What steps must I follow in order to renew the services included in Woolworths Antivirus?
In order to continue benefiting from the services provided by Woolworths Software, you must renew your Woolworths Antivirus. After you have done this, you will be able to continue updating your antivirus in order to ensure that you are protected against the new viruses that appear every day.
Below are the steps that you need to follow in order to renew the services:
- Access the online store.
- Select the country and click on Renewals.
Access the renewals area now.
- Once you have accessed the renewals area, fill in the E-mail address and Client number fields and click on Next.
The client number must be entered exactly as it appeared in the e-mail or letter you received after activating your services. If you have forgotten your number, access the User name/password reminder site.
The e-mail address must be the one you provided when you registered the product.
- When you click on Next, the registered products that can be renewed will be displayed. Click on the Renew corresponding to the product, if more than one is available.
- The renewal options are displayed. Select the option you want, read the License Agreement and click on Next.
- In the next window you can modify the personal details you provided when you registered the product. You must also select the form of payment.
- After selecting the form of payment, click on Send. A screen will be displayed in which you can confirm if your purchase details are correct.
- If they are correct, click on Finish. Then a screen will appear confirming that the renewal has been completed correctly.
This process uses a series of security technologies to guarantee the confidentiality of your data.
You can print this screen to keep as a receipt for the renewal process.
Within 48 hours Woolworths Software will send you an e-mail confirming your user name and password and the expiry date of the services you have just renewed.
When you receive this data, you user details will be re-activated, with the same client number, user name and password.

6. How do I install Woolworths Antivirus from the CD-ROM?
Woolworths Antivirus is very easy to install thanks to the installation wizard which will guide you through the process step by step.
How to install
- Before installing the antivirus, check your computer meets the minimum installation requirements.
- If you have downloaded Woolworths Antivirus from the Internet, run the downloaded file. If are installing from a CD-ROM, insert it in the CD drive.
- When the CD-ROM is run, the wizard, which will guide you through installation, will automatically run. If this option is disabled, go to Windows Explorer, select the CD-ROM drive and run the file SETUP.EXE.
- If you are installing from a CD-ROM with the autorun file, click on the arrow at the end of the autorun presentation and the installation process will start.
- Select the language in which you want to install the antivirus.
- A warning message will appear advising you to close any programs that are open, mainly e-mail programs, such as Microsoft Outlook.
- It is not recommendable to have two antivirus products installed on the same computer. Therefore, if another antivirus product is already installed, a message will appear informing you that you must uninstall it before installing Woolworths Antivirus.
Woolworths Antivirus will request confirmation to uinstall this other antivirus program. After clicking OK, it will automatically uninstall.
If you have an earlier version of a Woolworths Antivirus product installed, it is necessary to uninstall it before continuing installing Woolworths Antivirus.
When the message A previous installation of Woolworths Antivirus has been detected. Before installing the new version you must uninstall the current version appears, click on Yes.
If you select Yes, it will be uninstalled automatically. Otherwise, the installation process will end.
- Next, the Woolworths Antivirus welcoming screen will appear.

8. My Woolworths Antivirus license is active but the program informs me that the license has expired and I cannot perform updates. What do I have to do?
When you renew the Woolworths Antivirus services, a message may appear warning you that the license has expired, even though you have correctly completed the renewal process.
Why does the message appear?
This message appears because after renewing the services, the program must contact the Panda server at least once (Woolworths Antivirus is powered by Panda Software), in order to update the license information.
How to prevent the message from appearing
You can solve the problem by running an update from Woolworths Antivirus. Follow the steps below:
- Open Woolworths Antivirus. To do this, click on the Windows Start button, select Programs, Woolworths Antivirus and finally, click on Woolworths Antivirus.
- Once the program is open, click on the Update icon.
- Click on the Update Woolworths Antivirus, now! icon.
- At this moment, Woolworths Antivirus will begin to update.
When this process is completed, you will be able to check that the expiry date of the services has been modified.
Likewise, from then on, the program will be automatically updated whenever you connect to the Internet, not needing to carry out the steps above.
9. How can I uninstall Woolworths Antivirus?
Before uninstalling Woolworths Antivirus, bear in mind that from that moment onwards, it will not be protected against viruses and other threats.
How to uninstall the program
- Click on the Windows Start button.
- Select Programs.
- Select the option Woolworths Antivirus.
- Click on Uninstall.
- When the uninstallation finishes, you will be asked to restart the system.
To automatically uninstall the program
Only if the process described above is not completed correctly, it is advisable to follow the steps below:
- Download the file UNINST_v1012.exe (898 KB) by clicking here.
- Save the file, to the Windows Desktop for example.
This file should never be saved directly to the C:\ drive.
- Double click on the file. An MS-DOS window opens.
- Press Y to start the automatic uninstallation process.
This process could take a few minutes.
- When the process completes, the message NEED REBOOT appears on screen.
- Restart the computer to complete the uninstallation process.
NOTE: In Windows 2000/XP, the SMCLpav folder generated when running the file is automatically deleted when the uninstallation process completes. In Windows 9x, however, this folder must be deleted manually when the process is complete.

10. How can I know if Woolworths Antivirus is correctly updated?

In order to check if Woolworths Antivirus is correctly updated, follow these steps:
- Click on Windows Start.
- Select Programs.
- Select the option Woolworths Antivirus.
- Once the antivirus is open, in the first window, under the section Program status, you will be able to check the following things:
- Last updated: It indicates the date in which the last update of the Virus Signature File was carried out.
If the update was performed less than three days ago, it will appear in green; if it was made less than seven days ago, you will see a warning and it will appear in orange; if it has not been updated for more than seven days, it will appear in red with an exclamation mark.
- License expires: It indicates the date until which the services have been contracted.
When there is more than a month left, the date will appear in green; when there is less than a month left, it will appear in orange and when there is less than a week, it will appear in red.
- Automatic updates. It indicates if it is Enabled or Disabled and if its functioning correctly.
If the functioning is incorrect, you will see the instructions to follow to solve it.
- Last updated: It indicates the date in which the last update of the Virus Signature File was carried out.

11. My Woolworths Antivirus doesn't update automatically. Why not?
When the automatic updates can't be carried out, it is usually because Woolworths Antivirus is not configured correctly.
How to configure the Woolworths Antivirus settings
- Open Woolworths Antivirus. To do this, click on the Windows Start button, select Programs, Woolworths Antivirus and finally, click on Woolworths Antivirus.
- Click on the Settings menu and select Internet access settings. The Connection to the Internet via proxy server option must only be enabled and configured if you access the Internet through a proxy server in a computer network.
If your computer or computers are not connected to a network, this option must be disabled.
- Click on Updates and select Configure updates.Check that your user name and password are correct by clicking on Check details.
Remember you have to enter them the way they were sent to you from Woolworths Software, respecting capital letters and lower case letters and without blank spaces.

The anti-spyware protection safeguards the computer against programs that are installed without the user's permission, or by tricking the user into installing them and then run in the background, sending out confidential user data or displaying advertisements on the PC.
Woolworths Antivirus allows you to enable the protection against spyware in email and on disk (attempts to install spyware on the hard disk) or both at the same time.
How to enable and/or configure the anti-spyware protection
- Open Woolworths Antivirus. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click on the Windows Start button.
- Then select Programs.
- Select Woolworths Antivirus.
- Click on Woolworths Antivirus.
- Select the Automatic protection settings option.
- Click on Antivirus protection.
- Then click on Configure detection of spyware and check the Enable detection of spyware checkbox is enabled.
13. How do I configure the anti-dialers protection in Woolworths Antivirus?
Dialers try to disconnect the active phone connection (the one you use to connect to the Internet) and establish a connection to a premium-rate number.
This type of program could cause problems (significantly increasing your telephone bill). This is why it is very important to be protected against them by keeping the anti-dialer protection enabled all the time.
How to enable and/or configure the anti-dialer protection
- Open Woolworths Antivirus. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click on the Windows Start button.
- Then select Programs.
- Select Woolworths Antivirus.
- Click on Woolworths Antivirus.
- Click on Settings in the main Woolworths Antivirus window.
- Select the Automatic protection settings option.
- Click on Antivirus protection.
- Then click on Protection against fraud and check the Detect dialers on disk checkbox is enabled.
If you use a dialup modem to connect to the Internet, it is advisable to specify the number you dial to establish the connection. To do this:
- Check the Detect dialing of unauthorized numbers checkbox.
- Then click on Configure list of authorized numbers.
- Specify the number or numbers that can be dialed.
By doing this, Woolworths Antivirus will prevent calls to any numbers that you have not authorized without your permission.
Once you have finished defining these settings, your antivirus will protect you against dialers being installed on your computer.
14. What should I do if I think that I could be affected by malware but Woolworths Antivirus doesn't indicate anything?
Malware is any program, document or message liable to have negative effects on IT systems.
If you think that your computer could be affected by malware, follow the steps below:
- Check if the anti-spyware protection is enabled.

- After checking if the antivirus is updated, enable the heuristic scan and carry out a full scan of the computer. If your antivirus detects malware during this process, follow the instructions displayed by the program in order to eliminate it.
If your antivirus does not detect malware during the process but detects a file that could be infected, send the suspicious file or files to PandaLabs so that they can be analyzed.
If you think that your computer could be affected by malware and don't know how to locate the files that you must send to PandaLabs, follow the steps below:
- Click on the My Computer icon to open it and click on Tools, then Folder options. Select the View tab and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
- Enable Show all files.
- Click on Apply and OK.
- Look for all files that could be infected, to do this:
- Go to the Windows System directory.
By default, this directory is C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 in computers with Windows 2000/NT; C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 in computers with Windows 2003/XP and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM in computers with Windows Me/98.
- Arrange the files by date.
- Find and take note of all the executable files (all files with an EXE, COM, PIF, BAT, SCR or DLL extension) created or modified over the last week.
- Go to the Windows System directory.
- Go to the Registry and check if any key points to a suspicious file. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Click on Start, then Run and write REGEDIT. Click on OK.
- Click on the + symbol next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then on the + next to the Software folder, then on the + next to Microsoft, then on the + next to Windows and finally on the + next to Current Version. Select the Run folder. Check if this folder contains any references to a suspicious file. Look for this file or files in all of your computer and note them down.
- Carry out the same steps with the HKEY_CURRENT_ USER key. Close HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click on the + symbol next to HKEY_CURRENT_ USER, then on the + next to Software, then on the + next to Microsoft, then on the + next to Windows and finally on the + next to Current Version. Select the Run folder. Check if this folder contains any references to a suspicious file. Look for this file or files in all of your computer and note them down.
- Check if there are any processes on your computer that do not correspond to any of the programs installed. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Close all the programs and hold down Ctrl+Alt+Del at the same time.
If you use Windows 98/Me, a window containing the list of processes will open. Check if any of them do not correspond to any of the programs installed.
If you use Windows 2000/XP/NT, a window containing several buttons will open. Click on Task Manager. A window containing three tabs will be displayed. Select the Processes tab and check if any of them do not correspond to any of the programs installed.
- If there is a suspicious process, look for the file or files corresponding to the process and note them down.
- Close all the programs and hold down Ctrl+Alt+Del at the same time.
Send the suspicious files through the option in the antivirus program or attach them to an e-mail and send them to virus@pandasoftware.com. When sending these files, give as much detail as possible about what has happened, and specify your Client Number. After these files have been studied and analyzed, you will receive the results and the corresponding solution (if they have been identified as malware) or certification that the files are malware-free.

When installing the security solution, the following error can be returned 'Error number: 0x80040706', preventing the installation process from completing.
This error occurs because you have an outdated version of the InstallShield installer engine; a widely-used program for installing applications under Windows.
To prevent this error from being returned, you need to update the InstallShield engine. To do this, follow the recommendations in the following article:

How to download the User Guide
- Enter the exclusive Downloads area for clients on the website. To do this, click on the Downloads tab and select Downloads for clients in the menu on the left.

- In New Software Versions click on Down load Product.
Here you access the downloads area where you will be asked for your user name and password. This is the data supplied by Woolworths when you register the product.
